According to the Public Relations of the Department of Environment, Dr. Shina Ansari outlined the measures taken over the past year, pointing to the considerable development of renewable energies as well as projects related to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. She added that the program for reducing flaring in oil fields and the approval of the National Climate Change Management Program in the Government Cabinet have been other important steps in this direction.
Ansari emphasized that all these activities have been carried out while Iran is under unilateral and oppressive sanctions, which have deprived the country of access to financial resources and modern technologies. She also recalled that Iran was subjected to the savage aggression of the Zionist regime last year, which, in addition to the martyrdom of many innocent people, left behind extensive environmental impacts and consequences.
The UNFCCC Executive Secretary expressed regret over these incidents and appreciated the efforts and measures undertaken by the Islamic Republic of Iran in the field of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. He announced that the Convention Secretariat will continue to listen to Iran's voice in achieving its legitimate rights within the framework of the Convention's financial facilities and agreements, and supports the country's efforts in this regard.
