Head of Iran's Department of Environment Meets UN-Habitat Executive Director on Sidelines of COP30
On the sidelines of the UN Climate Change Summit (COP30) meetings in Belém, Brazil, Dr. Shina Ansari, Head of the Department of Environment, met and held discussions with Anna Maria Rusbach, Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).
According to the Public Relations of the Department of Environment, during the meeting, Ansari emphasized the importance of enhancing the sustainability and resilience of cities against climate change, particularly concerning rising temperatures and decreasing water resources. She stressed the necessity of comprehensive urban planning to counter the effects of climate change.
She stated: "Despite facing climatic and economic challenges, the Islamic Republic of Iran is constantly working to strengthen the path of sustainable urban development by utilizing scientific, regional, and international capacities."
Following this discussion, Anna Maria Rusbach emphasized the effective role of the UN-Habitat office in Tehran. She stressed the expansion of joint cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the agency in the fields of urban management, climate risk reduction, and enhancement of urban quality of life.
